[2024.09.05] Xaa-xaa 東京十二心中【九月心中】@ Shibuya Star Lounge

The full title for this live is kinda long:

12ヶ月連続コンセプトワンマンライブ
「東京十ニ心中」

【九月心中】
-五月病-失敗作-毒チョコ-
2024年9月5日(木)渋谷Star lounge

This was a part of Xaa-xaa's 12 Concept onemans, and this was the September installment.
The series name is 東京心中(Tokyo Shinjuu) which means "Tokyo Lovers' Suicide".

Each installment focuses on a specific set of songs, and the September one was based on Gogatsubyo, Shippaisaku, and Doku Choco.

I picked this one to go to because I was going with a friend and one of these are her favorite songs.

Since neither of us are in the fan club, we got the tickets when they went on sale to the general public in July. We got the first few B tickets, which sounds great, right?

Wrong!

Shibuya Star Lounge is pretty dang small - it only fits 250 people at maximum. There were over 200 fan club tickets in front of us, so we were initially stuck between the lockers and the merch counter. Here's a handy diagram (not to scale, obviously.)

The first thing that was annoying about this live was that it was sold out, and yet they insisted on having a merch counter in the back during the show. It took up a pretty good chunk of real estate out of the already cramped floor - I bet at least 20 people could've fit into the merch area.

The second was that it was too packed to get to the drink counter (and the merch table was in the way) and there was a sign at the drink counter saying that they wouldn't accept drink exchanges after the show. It kind of makes sense, since they were having an instore event right after the live, but still. We had to shimmy our way over there, and it was PACKED.

We eventually ended up standing in front of the merch counter and next to the drink counter.
I'm not very tall, and the people in front of me were pretty tall, so I couldn't see much.
I also had a drink in my hand, so I couldn't really do much furi or headbang - which is completely different from when I went to see Xaa-xaa at Shibuya WWWX in May (place was only half full, and the band made us run around the floor, it was amazingly fun).

Still, the set list was great:

Now, at the time they had just released their live and webstore-only single, Nozokitai.
I was going to buy it, but I didn't have enough cash on me, and they only took cash. (Plus, 6000yen for a single from a band that I don't go to regularly seems kinda steep to me.)

And besides, it felt like everyone at the show was staying for the instore - the show barely ended before a line formed at the merch counter, dragging out all the way onto the street outside. I don't usually go to instores and I have no interest in taking photos with the band, so I just left.

Anyway, on the way home I looked on Mercari and saw a few people selling the Nozokitai single at around half the original price. Some even had chekis bundled in the listing. This is pretty common, because a lot of people like to buy multiples just for the extra photoshoot ticket/free cheki.

So I ended up buying an unopened Nozokitai single for 2500yen, and it arrived a few days later.

It's a CD + DVD bundle with a photobook. The Nozokitai MV and offshots are on the DVD, but I haven't watched it yet. There's an interview in the photobook and some photos of the members. I mainly bought this for the CD, so I'm not too concerned about the rest. Maybe this will be worth a lot of money someday, since it's "limited". I doubt it, though.

  1. Aww, no room for headbanging is a bummer, but hopefully the show was still good!
